For Christmas 2014, my wife gave me a Wood River No 5 V3 hand plane.

I have never used a plane before. I took it out of the box, wiped down the sole and sides, flipped the lever cap forward, took out the chip breaker and blade, screwed them apart, wiped them down, and put humpty dumpty back together.

These are my first shavings.
