I had wanted to make a chair. My wife saw this chair, and it inspired me. Straight cuts meeting at angles different from 90 degrees, but no curves. A good progressions for me.

For some time, I has wanted to work with maple. So I decided to make the chair out of maple. If successful, it would work well in my office.
I spent some time with printed versions of the chair viewed from different angles. Combining this with the overall dimensions provided, I was able to determine the approximate length and angles of the various pieces.
This is what I came up with.

I got a 6/4 9.5” wide 10′ long Hard Maple board at Mt. Storm.
Next, I cross-cut a 27” piece with a skill saw, ripped six pieces 1 3/8” wide, and planed them to be 1.25”x1.25”x27”. These will become the frame for the seat. This is pieces 8-13.
First, I cut the two mortises on the back side of the seat front (piece 8). Because there will be another mortise at the bottom, I made this one 1/8” from the top.
The seat tilts back 13 degrees, so for the front part of the seat frame (piece 8) I cut a 13 degree wedge off the front.
Next, the mortises and tenons for the seat frame. There are eight total. Each mortise and tenon is 0.5”x1.0”x0.5”.
The dry-fit comes together well.
Slats first?
Or bottom first?
